Refreshing Mint Coriander Chutney: The Perfect Green Dip
I acquired this recipe from my younger brother. This is our favourite dip for dosas, besan chilla and sandwiches. Mint Coriander Chutney, also known as Green Chutney or Hari Chutney, is a versatile and flavorful condiment that pairs perfectly with a variety of Indian snacks and dishes. Its fresh and zesty taste adds a burst of flavour to your meals. Let's dive into making this quick and easy chutney.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups Coriander leaves ( Dhaniya)
- 1 cup Mint leaves (Pudhina)
- 2 teaspoon Peanut (Roasted)
- 2 Green Chili (adjust to taste)
- 2 tablespoon Roasted peanut
- 1 " inch Ginger chopped
- ½ teaspoon Cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon Salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon Lime juice
- ½ cup Water (adjust to consistency)
Instructions:
Making the Mint Coriander Chutney:
- Wash the coriander leaves and mint leaves thoroughly. Drain excess water.
- In a blender or food processor, add chopped coriander leaves, mint leaves, green chilies, chopped ginger, roasted peanuts and cumin seeds.
- Sprinkle salt over the ingredients.
- Squeeze in lemon juice for a zesty kick.
- Add 2-3 tablespoons of water to help with blending.
- Blend everything until you achieve a smooth and vibrant green chutney consistency. If needed, add a bit more water.
- Taste the chutney and adjust the salt, lemon juice, or green chilies to suit your preference.
- Transfer the chutney to a clean, airtight container or serving bowl. You can store it in the refrigerator for a few days to enhance the flavours.
- Serve this Mint Coriander Chutney as a dip with samosas, pakoras, or as a flavorful spread in sandwiches and wraps. It also pairs wonderfully with grilled paneer tikka or as a side for your favourite Indian dishes.
